BRICE L JOHNSON 

Written for the ASU Wind Ensemble's "Redshift Concert" on December 3rd 2015, A Glimpse in Time is a work that is meant to be performed in a spatialized setting. The premiere was given in an outdoor space with musicians placed on multiple levels of the W.P. Carey School of Business building on ASU's Campus. The work specifically utilizes the space as a conduit for dramatic elements, such as the reciting of children's rhymes, the ticking away of a clock, and the boisterous finale.

This work captures my thoughts on time and the excitement of a moment. Time is well suited in the musical realm and musicians are shapers of that time, so it makes sense that we would pursue new avenues of expression inside that continuum.
